Bugged pokeballs can happen in many different ways. Not just the failed to initialize blabla. If your poke bags are full (where you have your pokemons) you won't be able to switch. So gotta empty the bags you have. And a simple exit doesn't work. My post fix it always as in re-log I mean exit client and start again.

in other words, keep always the pokebag that r ur pokemons with atleast 2 slots empty.
