I used to play on a Pokemon server several years ago (now defunct) that had a duel tournament on weekends where contestants would enter with no Pokemon and the server generated a team of 6 random pokemon to battle with. The team is diverse, so it wouldn't have duplicates or the same exact types. The tournament was single-elimination, and opponents were randomly generated. Awards were tokens that you can trade in for prizes (TMs, Pokemon).
It was a lot of fun and a big hit. I'm thinking it'd be an exciting idea to have something like that on this server? Something to look forward to on weekends. The entire thing was automated so GMs weren't directly involved in each tournament: you talk to an NPC to enter, team is generated, battles commence until someone wins.
